Regent Lacrosse

Code of Conduct & Commitment

All coaches, players and parents are ambassadors on behalf of the Regent Club Lacrosse team and US Lacrosse, both on and off the field. We are all committed to act as a group of class individuals on the field, at practices and games, when traveling to tournaments, at school and even in the locker room. It is our team mission to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all involved at all times.

Coaches

• We, the Regent lacrosse coaching team, will adhere to a standard of fairness and a complementary willingness to teach the fundamentals as well as the strategies of the game. The emphasis at all times will be on good sportsmanship and team unity.

• In all aspects of the sport, we will strive to instill the spirit of “honor the game” in all players.

Players

• I will conduct myself in a way that reflects positively upon my parent(s)/guardian(s), my friends, my teammates, my coaches, the club, and myself.

• I will not use alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs.

• I realize that swearing, foul language, “trash talk” and disrespectful conduct are not acceptable on or off of the field. Hazing in any form is prohibited.

• I will abide by team rules, follow the directions of coaches and officials promptly and without complaint, and accept their decisions without verbal criticism or gestures that imply criticism.

• I will treat other players, coaches, parents, fans, and officials with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.

• I am expected to attend all games and practices on time. If unable to attend or if I’ll be late, I will inform one of the coaches as soon as is practical.

• I will ensure that all required paperwork and dues are submitted by stated deadlines.

• I will have (or work with my coaches to obtain) all required equipment: lacrosse stick, mouth-guard, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads and protective cup.

• I will practice hard, play hard, and graciously accept the outcome.

• I will maintain my academics to the highest level of my ability.

Parents

• I will provide positive support and encouragement for my player participating in the Regent club lacrosse program and emphasize the importance of achieving common goals through teamwork.

• I understand that the coaches try to be as fair as possible. I will support their team placement decisions to my player and other parents.

• I will place the emotional and physical well being of my player ahead of my personal desire to win. I will remember that the game is for youth -- not adults -- and will do my best to make lacrosse fun for my child and all Regent lacrosse players.

• I will not confuse players by countermanding the coaches’ instructions. I will follow team rules regarding arrival times, attendance, etc.

• I will be a respectful fan and encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, parents and officials at every practice, game, or other Regent lacrosse event.

• The people active in this club are unpaid volunteers. I will support the lacrosse program and become involved to whatever extent I am able.
